The best photo that I  have taken this term will have to be the one of my cousin Teddy who works for Pipeworks Studios in front of the company logo. The reason I think that this was the best photo I have taken is because I know him very well and was able to be comfortable taking his picture. So I was able to get out of my head and just take the picture. To me the photo stands out because he is a very expressive, upbeat personality and his face was able to show that in the photo even though he is looking off to the side. The photo reflects that I was learning my angles and that I learned how to get his expression in the frame without it being awkward or strange looking. My skills from the beginning of the term have improved, since I now am thinking about what would make a good photo or not instead of just randomly taking a picture here and there. In the very beginning my only knowledge about editing photos in the camera and trying to get a good shot of the actions was nonexistent since

In Lynsey Addario’s book It’s What I Do, tells hers experience as a woman entering a man’s world of photojournalism. Because of this she has had to work hard in her photography, yet one of the things that makes her photography so great is she truly tries to connect with the people she is photographing so the story that comes through her pictures can impact the reader more than it might have originally. I can understand her sense of drive and duty towards photographing war-zones mainly because she is driven with the need to photograph people’s lives in these situations and tell their stories. While I understand it, I think you have to have extreme amounts of courage to even think about going into a war zone to begin with let alone do it to gather pictures of complete strangers. Since she continues to  go to war zones and take pictures of some of the hardest topics to photograph, let alone discuss, makes her pictures have such an impact and major contribution to journalism becaus

 In the book so far, Lynsey Addario has had to give up relationships so she could continue on to her career, but by returning to the middle east she begins to realize that where she originally was welcomed she is now considered the enemy to some because she is an American. Which goes to show how much time can change due to war and changing politics. Plus her being a woman gave her advantages and disadvantages. Because she was a women people tended to not treat her as seriously or thought of her as an anomaly giving her opportunities to get a good picture but to also stay somewhat undetected. However due to her being a woman gave her some reason to want to stay low due to being grouped and being harassed due to her gender. Since she was photographing a war area she also was exposed to people dying around her. She was a witness to some horrible wounds and the recovery of hidden graves. All while trying to document the lives of the people and try to show both sides of the war. Like how so

One thing that stood out to me about Karl Maasdams presentation was that he continued to always get the picture by shooting at different angles and what he called the hail Mary, where he lifted the camera above his head trying to get the right picture. As well as how he continuously places cameras at different spots a head of time and scopes out the area to get an idea on what he wanted for the background as well as get a feel for the place. I can use these suggestions by trying to get different angles and to try to understand the environment where I will be shooting better. This way I could get  a picture easier since I will be able to place myself in the right spot for the photograph.     I might shoot the upcoming mens basketball game or a couple of people that I know that like to work out at the gym by lifting weights. The weights one might be harder to get an actual good action photo thats not boring while the mens basketball game will be harder to shoot because of them having mo
