Forum on Lynsey Addario

In Lynsey Addario's book "It's What I Do" She has continuously put herself in countries and places that are in a middle of a war or are places that she wouldn't be comfortable in because of how there society is built. Yet she continues to document the lives of people in those countries to show what they are going through instead of what we may originally believe is going on. Between Chapters 2 and 7, Lynsey Addario explains how trying to juggle her work and her home life can be difficult. In one point she was taking less assignments to try and make her relationship with her boyfriend work. In the end she wasn't happier for it and her boyfriend was unfaithful to her. She goes on to explain how trying to keep those that she loves happy and herself can be a difficult task. What made an impression on me the most about her work in the book so far is that when she first found out about people going to the Middle east to take war photographs, her first thought was ab

Week 4 forum NPPA ethics

One of the few things that jumped out to me was how, there was a part in the code of ethics about photographing staged scenes, it seemed to me that most photojournalists wouldn't have to worry about the scene being staged unless they stage it themselves instead of it being staged accidentally. Under the Ideally list, I noticed that there was a warning to avoid political and other subjects that might hinder a journalists rights or compromise their ability of free media, which was interesting to me since there seemed to be a fine line that must be walked for that to happen. Especially in the political world and the term "fake news". Which to me seems make things difficult for journalists to conduct there job when covering a political story because someone might consider it fake or real since their now is I guess the feeling that the news has to be interpreted. But they both matter, because it gives the viewers faith about the news they are presented. It can be applied by

My worst photograph so far is probably last weeks photo of the girl in NSH. Just because the angles were wrong, and the subject wasn't looking at the camera and/or this weeks train track photo's mainly because I was only able to get cars in the shot and you cant really see anyone along with being blurry. My best photograph would be of Maggie studying for her next class in NSH. Because the lighting and she was looking at the general direction of the camera.  Maggie's picture is in the first post back in September, the worst ones are both in October this week and last week. The biggest skill that I need improving is getting my angles right.

Lynsey Addario is an amazing photojournalism who goes to different countries and shoots photos of people going about their daily lives. Her parents owned a beauty salon until they divorced when her father came out gay. After the divorce, her father gave her a camera and later, funds to launch her career. She has three sisters; Lauren, Lesley, and Lisa,  and her house growing up was always open everyone came over and had a good time. Lynsey Addario  never thought about photo-journalism as a career until she started out. When she began, Lynsey Addario had no clue how to do a photo-journalists job and now she takes these amazing photos that make people pause and think about why certain events are happening in the world. Her first photograph was of Madonna at a movie set, with some help her career was launched.
